I AM NOT MY HAIR

Sometimes people would ask or wait for my blog post. Sometimes they complain why I can’t update it regularly, since I can be available to be online everyday. The thing is, I write most of my thoughts in my diary. My deepest thoughts are not to be published online. That’s why, if I feel sick or empty throughout the week, aside from being busy, then I won’t able to remember my blog.OK since I am already online and since I am already logged inside blogger, then I will attempt to summarise my day:This week hasn’t been bad. One thing is, POWERPOINT (which is my current module) happens to be easy. Yet it is very hard for me to concentrate if I always daydream about beaches, sand and sexy bodies. Well I tell you, if you’re in winter season right now, you can’t help it but dream about the tropics.I’m also planning to save (which is the case, I still need to attempt). I am keen of going to visit my grandparents this Christmas. BUT, I HOPE MONEY ISN’T THE PROBLEM. They are in States, and I THINK I WOULD LIKE TO SHOP THIS CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY THERE. So… sorry if made it all in CAPS. It’s just my way of projecting things. So, how am I supposed to save enough money for travel and expense when I only get $100 (NZ) a week extra money? Shuushh! But anyway.. I AM A DETERMINED PERSON (NOT!). We’ll see what happens in the long run. Here is my song to you… feel free to download this MP3 from India Arie (hey I meant downloading it from your own mp3 downloader)I AM NOT MY HAIR (by INDIA ARIE) Is that India? What happened to her hair? Da da da da da (Verse 1) Little girl with the press and curls Age 8 I got a jerry curl 13 and I got a relaxer I was the source of so much laughter 15 when it all broke off 18 when I went all natural February 2002 I went on and did what I had to do Cuz it was time to change my life To become the woman that I am inside 97 dread locs all grown I looked in the mirror for the first time and saw that (hey) (Chorus) I am not my hair I am not this skin I am not your expectations (no) I am not my hair I am not this skin I am the soul that lives within (Spoken) What she do to her? I don’t know; it look crazy! I like it. I might do that. I wouldn’t go that far. (Verse 2) Good hair means curls and waves. Bad hair means you look like a slave At the turn of the century Its time for us to redefine who we be You can shave it off like an African beauty Got in on “loc” like Bob Marley You can rock it straight like Oprah Winfrey It’s not what’s on your head, it’s what’s underneath (say hey) (Chorus) I am not my hair I am not this skin I am not your expectations (no) I am not my hair I am not this skin I am the soul that lives within Does the way I wear my hair make me a better person Does the way I wear my hair make me a better friend Does the way I wear my hair determine my integrity Expressing my creativity (Verse 3) Breast cancer and chemotherapy Took away her crown and glory She promised God if she was to survive She would enjoy everyday of her life On national television her diamond eyes are sparkling Baldheaded like a full moon shining Singing out to the whole wide world like hey (Chorus) I am not my hair I am not this skin I am not your expectations (no) I am not my hair I am not this skin I am the soul that lives within (Repeat) If I wanna shave it close or I wanna rock locs That don’t take a bit away from this soul that I got If I wanna wear it braided all down my back

I don’t see nothing wrong with that

what’s new with me?

hi everybody! matagal-tagal na din akong hindi nakapag blog…so anong mga nangyari sa akin ng mga panahong nanahimik ako? well, i just started working in a bank but it only lasted for 4 days…hahaha! reason? marami…

— first, wala akong balak mag-overtime araw-araw para lang magbalanse ng perang hindi naman akin.

— second, ayokong mag close shoes with heels at ayoko din mag make up.

Long ago the place was inhabited by natives known as the «Mangcas». The word Mangcas derived from the name of a brave and noble Negrito warrior who lived in the creek of Canman-ug. Because of his kindness people loved him, and all of his offsprings also named after him, later on when there is too many Mancas around, a settlement emerged and local natives named it Mangcas.

Methanol-powered cellphones…

…will be available by 2007 and they will be produced by NTT DoCoMo Inc. — a mobile communications company in Japan. It was said that methanol-powered cellphones last three to four times longer than lithium-ion batteries. Amazing, isn’t it?. Looks like we will now be spared from the annoying chore of frequently recharging our phones when this technology comes out. Actually, the need to

Please Lord, isa na lang.

Okay, so the Miami Heat are up 3-1 against Detroit. They won earlier today. OMG, ang saya ko. But of course, I’m in no mood of celebrating just yet. This is Detroit we’re talking about. The Destroyer of Dreams, the Holocaust of Hope of my teams. If you may remember, they convincingly defeated the Four Horsemen of the Lakers. They also defeated the Miami Heat last year in the conference finals. When Shaq left the Lakers, my loyalty shifted from West to East. I became a certified Heat fan. I admit that I was a Shaq fan at first, but now, I’m all Heat. And mind you, I didn’t join the Heat bandwagon. I’m not saying that it’s wrong but the others only became fans when they were good, like what happened with the Clippers this season. The fanbase increased tenfold when they entered the 2nd round. However, I was a fan from the moment Shaq joined the team. Now, my fanaticism is stronger than ever.Anyway, they have a chance to enter the Finals for the first time in franchise history. Only one more win. I’m not thinking about the Finals yet. Let’s just take it one game at a time. Hopefully, they can close it out in Detroit.

What if the Heat will lose 3 straight? Pwede ba yun? Pwede di ba? E di gagawin ko na lang yung ginagawa ko everytime matalo yung kampi ko: Umiyak.

love stories…

Every couple has their own love story to tell……others are breathtaking while others are bittersweet……some last forever while some are short lived……some are full of excitement while others are not…Every love story has its own beginning……their first eye contact, first hello and first kiss……Other beginnings are magical…they call it love at first sight……while some started as friends…and become more than that…Every love story has its own happiness and thrills……the exchange of sweet nothings, laughter and the hugs & kisses……the out of town adventures or the cuddling on the sofa on lazy afternoons ……the star gazing moments and the times spent day dreaming of the future…Every love story has its own twists and turns……the petty quarrels, big fights and the unfulfilled expectations……the misunderstandings, disappointments and frustrations……the heartaches, bitter tears and broken promises…Every love story has its own endings……some are ended because it’s not really meant to be……some ends when couples breathe their last……while some were ended even before it started…All love stories are appealing……it may be hurting and heart breaking……or it may be inspiring and pleasing…

…but it never fail to touch the heart

Miscellany: Let’s talk about mobile phones

I remembered years ago when I watched Swordfish, a movie starred by Hugh Jackman and Halle Berry — stars of the $120M grosser (for its first week) X-Men:The Last Stand, that I was amazed to see Hugh Jackman’s character using a Nokia 5110 — a model considered to be inferior and not something to be proud of during that time — thanks to the social status peeps have managed to associate to

In Full Swing

Construction has begun on Aunt Genie’s Bread House. The workers have started taking out the pebbles on half of our garage and will start pouring cement and put up the dry wall this week. The machines have also arrived! I still have to read the manuals and talk to an electrician to find out if there is any need to do some electrical rewiring.

On my end, I was supposed to do a photo shoot for a newly opened spa tomorrow at 9am. However, my client called this 11pm to postpone the shoot because he wants to meet the models first. This is quite frustrating because during our last phone conversation he that everything should be done by monday. Oh well, as they say, the customer is always right….at least, most of the time.

When was the last time you displayed the Philippine flag?

When was the last time you displayed the Philippine flag outside your home? According to Section 7 of RA 8491 — An Act Prescribing the Code of the National Flag, Anthem, Motto, Coat-of-Arms and other Heraldic Items and Devices of the Philippines:

I Know What I Did This Summer

It’s just fitting to recap my summer on the last day of vacation, i.e. the day before the start of the CPA board review. I can classify the things I did into two categories, major and minor.

MAJOR

  1. Moving — From Pasig to LPC. I think we’ve adjusted pretty well. I still can’t believe that garbage collection is only once a week, as opposed to Pasig’s everyday.
  2. Puerto Galera 1 — My second time in Galera. Went with college friends. Please see the blogs of Crystle and Loraine for the details of this trip.
  3. Puerto Galera 2 — My third time in Galera, second time this summer. Went with HS friends and Ros. Please visit Ros’ blog for more information.

MINOR
This involves the small stuff like reading Clancy’s Rainbow Six and Grisham’s The Testament, watching Miami defeat the Bulls and the Nets (and hopefully, Detroit and Dallas), sleeping, surfing the net, feeding the fish (too many to mention), Raymond the guinea pig (because everybody loves Raymond) and Apu the rabbit, cleaning my room, watching Taylor Hicks win AI, etcetera shmetcetera.Good luck to the reviewees and may God bless us all.

Plaza Mart

Before the Robinsons Place, before the Gaisano City, there is a commercial building in Bacolod where everybody goes, the name of the place is Plaza Mart (the present name is Plaza Mart City Mall). It is located in downtown Bacolod at the corner of Gonzaga and San Juan Sts., in front of the Public Plaza. During Spanish times the place where Plaza Mart now occupies was the Spaniard’s Government Center, in here stood the Guardia Civil and the Town Hall. Today Plaza Mart is just one of those beatiful mall and still most visited place in the city.

I haven’t heard POS salespeople talk about this for over a decade and if it isn’t typify used in your business you are change state yourself up for theft and possibly supply robbery of your business. All cash register and point of sale systems observe sales and tenders. They all know how much money, checks, gift see, impute see and other make of payment are in each cash drawer/till.Most cash register and a few point of sale software companies have the ability to set a limit on how much cash should be in each cash drawer/till. When this limit is arriveed the free is notified and then can notify management to do a cash pull from the drawer. Some systems go as far as transmit a communicate via pager/cell phone alerting management that a cash drawer/till is over the cash limit.Management can then go to the drawer, pull out an be of cash, be it and register the be transferd as a cash pull. This be is then transferd from the cash in drawer be and devalue the overall free responsibility.Do not neglect that every time the cash drawer/till is change state all the cash is tell to view and to the temptation of everyone. Not only does the money transform accessible to your free, it is also accessible to long-supply customers who have been experience to arrive across when the free was not be.What could be even worse is the fact that when the cash drawer/till is open potential robbers are able to judge and cause if your operation is worth give for a full-scale robbery.free like this have in that it simplifys the be of cash they are responsible for as the cash transferd is keep from their overall cash responsibility. free also like the fact that if there is less cash in the drawer they are less apt to have a gun push in their face during a robbery.Owners like this have in that it simplifys the temptation to transfer money from the cash drawer/till through employee theft or through robbery. If you are an owner, wouldn’t you like confine more of the money in your cash drawer/till for yourself? Wouldn’t you like to simplify the chance/temptation of an supply robbery? our rendezvous with ilocos…

since i was envious when kusum talked about her Goa trip…i better post about our ilocos tour too…this is long overdue…i planned to post this weeks ago…and here it is…day 1 -friday afternoon of Apr 28happy faces boarded the bus…t’was a long drive…12 hours to be exact…but who cares about the long drive if we are having fun? the long drive was an opportunity to bond with officemates…we were restless and sleepless on the way…most of the time we were laughing over nothing…we simply had fun…

Day 2 — April 29

Our first stop was the patapat bridge…i forgot why we stopped there!…hehehe…i hardly heard the tour guide mumbling about the history of the bridge…i guess it has a significance in our history…

then we hit pagudpod…the famous boracay of the north… we played beach volleyball and simply enjoy the summer heat and white sand! Since i want to be different…i put on sun tan oil instead of sun block!…i want to have tan lines…my boss was wondering why because im already dark…i just told him i want to be darker! i want to get those tan lines to let people know that i went to the beach! hehehe…sensya na nagpapapansin ako!

in the afternoon we proceed to Fort ilocandia an hour drive from pagudpod. it is one if not the best hotel in ilocos region…again we enjoyed the pool and the beach…what the heck if it wasnt white sand…beach is beach! Fort ilocandia is a garden hotel…there are lots of flowers and grass…they have a mini zoo too! the food was sumptous enough to make me forget that im on a perpetual diet!… too bad we just stayed there for a night!

Day 3 — April 30

The breakfast was great!!!…not just because the food was delicious…but also because there were a lot of good looking males there…my stomach and eyes were full!

Then we toured the historical places and museums in ilocos prior going to the famous street in vigan (maybe its not at all famous because i forgot the name of the street!)…where the old houses are seen…though most of the houses were converted to stores selling vigan delicacies and antiques…

after the long day…we headed back to manila…another 8 hours drive…we drank tequilas and sang old songs on our way back to manila!!!

it was indeed tiring but fun!!!

Instant messaging is truly a helpful tool that enables us to talk to our friends who are situated miles away, in real-time. I SWEAR THERE’S SOMETHING F@/#ING WRONG WITH THE BIRHEN SA REGLA RELIGIOUS AUTHORITIES

At church today, the Birhen Sa Regla head lay minister pulled in front of the worshippers in his motor vehicle right in the middle of consecration. (For more on this incident, refer to the post below).Fr. Rey and Fr. Bob, your lay ministers need a lesson in the sanctity of the Holy Mass. The worship areas of the church cannot be bothered by vehicles coming in and out during the ceremony. There is ample parking in the streets along the convent, or in the SACS quadrangle.

Or, maybe Fr. Rey and Fr. Bob do not know the solemnity and significance of the Holy Mass. In this case, fully understanding the autonomy of the Mactan Island vicarette, I implore His Excellency Cardinal Vidal and Mons. Dakay to send cathecists to rescue the Birhen Sa Regla Parish.

conservation of heritage homes in BOHOL

may 16-17…. that was one of the unforgetable moments or shall we say some giant steps my hometown has done.It was the 1st time that an international conference about heretage homes was done here in bohol.I did not waste time, immedietly i signed up for the list. I learned a lot of things during that conference I realized that im not the only one who has that advocate for saving our heretage homes to my surprise there were already a lot of filipinos who are really interested on such move of conservation, i also met my mentors on my college days who were part of cultivating my mind on such issue of conservation, it was an unforgetable experience…but the most unforgetable experience then was when one of the major orginizer in that conference and sat with us in our dinner table, hmmm guess who? BEA ZOBEL …ive seen her a lot of times on tv and often you find her name on coffe table books and magazines, but on that day when BEA learned we were architects from Bohol she spent her time with us an told us how lucky we are and proud should us be being boholanos…she loves bohol so much as well with the group from manila she had with her. A lot of things Bea said were no more a surprise to me, but knowing that this people who are not from bohol was so in love with the place i came from, what happen was that she or they

made me felt proud as well as sorry to the possibilities that will happen to bohol if no great moves shall we say wise moves are to be done. According to them Bohol today is blooming however if the people in this province does not listen and doesnot spend time to know the past of this place then the future is not the future that the young generation thought it would be. I agree….all i wish that i would be part in the development of this place to a fututre that the new generation would be proud of where they came from….
