Annulment in the Philippines: Questions and Answers (Part 3)

My fiancee and I secured a marriage license, but no marriage ceremony was ever celebrated. I learned, however, that my “wife” is already using my surname in her documents, including her passport. Am I considered as “married”? No. A marriage license is valid only for 120 days, and any marriage contracted after that period is […]

Branches of the Philippine Government: Separation of Powers

The Philippines is a democratic and republican state. As a republican state, sovereignty resides in the People and all government authority emanates from them (Constitution, Art. III, Sec. 1). “A Republican form of government rests on the conviction that sovereignty should reside in the people and that all government authority must emanate from them. […]

Last Will and Testament: Basic Discussion

The settlement of a person’s estate after his/her death, based on our experience, is potentially one of the more bitter litigations. It’s never good to see relatives fighting each other. Some persons, with the intent of controlling the disposition of his/her properties after his/her death (and hopefully prevent fighting among his/her heirs over the properties […]

Pinoy United: A Social Networking Exclusive for Filipinos

Filipinos never get tired of social networks. In fact, the largest portion of the Friendster users are Filipinos. As of 2006, 5 million Filipinos have a Friendster account. But this may also include duplicate and spam accounts. My brother, who is a Friendster-junkie (and we are always argue because of it) has 3 accounts! And he spends more than 2 hours browsing photos, adding more “friends”, commenting, etc.

Recently, I stumbled upon and joined Pinoy United, a social network exclusive for Filipinos around the globe.

What is Pinoy United?
It is the latest social networking site with Filipinos in mind. The site is based in the United Kingdom and aims to cater for Filipinos across the globe. Similar with other networking sites, members can stay in touch with their friends, connect with new friends, share photos, discover new interests and just hang out.

How does Pinoy United differ from other social networking site?
Aside from being exclusive for Filipinos, their utmost concern is their members’ safety. One can easily report abusive acts from other members.

Love and Law

It may seem improper to talk about love in a legal forum, particularly considering that among the most popular articles relate to annulment, legal separation and divorce. Still, Valentines, February 14, is just around the corner and there could be no serious objections why we could not talk about this “gentle and universal emotion.” Besides, […]

Today, 22 January 2008, marks the 21st anniversary of what has been dubbed as the “Mendiola Massacre.” An entire generation may not be aware of, and many could have already forgotten, what transpired on that date. Checkpoints and the right against unreasonable search and seizure

A checkpoint is something that motorists have to contend with. Only recently, a “concerned Filipino citizen” raised some issues with respect to PNP/AFP checkpoints. The Basic Elements of Contracts

If a contract brings you to court, it’s a poorly-prepared contract. The rationale for this statement is this — if the rights and obligations of the parties are clearly provided and defined, there’s a lesser chance of misinterpretation. This, of course, is not necessarily true. Even a carefully drafted contract, prepared by the big law […]

Jurisdiction of Philippine Courts

Jurisdiction sounds a bit intimidating for the layman, specially if you add “court” to it. ADB: Clean water shortage by 2025

An alarming news published in Philippine Daily Inquirer based on a research by Asian Development Bank should make us rethink of conserving water.

The Philippines’ water resources are fast deteriorating with rapid urbanization, with only about 33 percent of river systems still suitable as a supply source and up to 58 percent of groundwater now contaminated. Water availability in the Philippines could be “unsatisfactory” in eight of its 19 major river basins and in most major cities before 2025.

Urbanization has been pointed out as the major cause of this arising problem. Poor environmental management, extensive forest denudation, poor maintenance of sanitary landfills, crowding in urban areas, etc, are few of the effects of urbanization that have subsequently affected the availability of clean water in the Philippines, especially in large cities Cebu and Metro Manila.

The Face Behind The Blog

Tag 3

Itong tag na to ay nagmula sa isang babaeng nakatira sa Munich. I am supposed to write this in english, but what the heck. I don’t think this language would suit to my image. Ehmmm mein english ist leider sehr beschiessen, also ich lass es lieber.

According to Cheh:
The very purpose of this assignment is to find out what a person looks like and gives you (readers) a better insight & gives you chance to actually see who’s writing to you.

David Airey says:
Putting a face to the name of someone you haven’t met helps recognition and adds a more personal feel to your conversations. What photograph shows you in a light we don’t often see through your blog?

NOW IT’S MY TURN

It’s my turn to see what I can see, I hope you’ll understand this time’s just for me because it’s my turn…la la la lala…

Gusto ko nalang sanang kumanta dahil para sa akin, there is no need to describe myself since you all know me already, diba?

My name is Bond ah este Beng. I’m from Davao City — I’m bisdak/bisaya (soo proud of it) at kong ano-ano pang tawag nila diyan sa aming mga tega south. I studied Business Management in Siena College, Quezon City and I got married to a German after I graduated in 1983…
